So, what is Smart Charging?

Smart charging for electric vehicles, or intelligent charging, refers to a system where electric vehicles and charging devices share data connections, and charging devices share data connections with charging operators. Unlike traditional charging devices, smart charging systems intelligently monitor, manage, and restrict the use of their devices to optimize energy consumption.

The control of devices in smart charging systems includes simple tasks such as initiating and terminating charging, unidirectional vehicle control (V1G), allowing the increase or decrease of charging rates, and the technologically challenging bidirectional vehicle-to-grid (V2G), enabling electric vehicles to provide services to the grid in discharge mode. Additionally, vehicle-to-home (V2H) and vehicle-to-building (V2B) are forms of bidirectional charging, where electric vehicles serve as residential backup power during power outages.
