Solar inverter is an electronic device that converts direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC). Some people get confused when choosing a solar inverter and don't know which solar inverter is right for them, off-grid, grid-tie or hybrid inverter? Therefore, we will tell you the difference between grid-tie and off-grid inverters and hybrid inverters:

1.Difference between hybrid inverter and off-grid inverter:

Off-grid solar inverters can use energy from the grid and batteries to power electrical loads. For off-grid solar systems, batteries are mandatory.

However, hybrid inverters can be used for both off-grid and grid-tie applications, so the batteries can be flexibly configured.

2. Difference between grid-tie inverters and hybrid inverters:

For hybrid inverters, there are usually two different meanings, one is an off-grid inverter with a built-in solar charge controller, and the other is an inverter with an integrated grid-tie inverter.

Off-grid inverter with solar charge controller means that the solar inverter has a PWM or MPPT solar controller inside the solar inverter, and the user can connect the PV inputs in the solar inverter and check the PV status on the solar inverter display, which makes it easy to connect and check the system.

Grid-tie and off-grid inverter means that the solar inverter can be used for both off-grid and grid-tie type.

3. Difference between grid-tie and off-grid inverters and hybrid inverters:

Grid-tie inverters are used for grid-tie solar systems, in which it cannot be connected to an electrical load and all the DC energy generated by the PV will be converted to AC through the grid-tie inverter and sent directly to the grid. For grid-tie solar systems, batteries are not required.

However, off-grid solar inverters must be equipped with batteries. DC solar power can be converted to AC power through the solar charge controller and off-grid inverter in order to supply power directly to the load. Also, DC solar energy can be stored in batteries to store power. When solar power is not available, the battery can continue to provide uninterrupted power to the loads and the electronic equipment can still function properly. In addition, hybrid inverters can combine the functions of both off-grid and grid-tie inverters.

These are the differences between grid-tied and off-grid inverters and hybrid inverters.
